Please don’t dispute repeat subscriptions
Write to me! I am paying out far more than I ever received.
Don’t use the Stripe Complaint process
I will give you your money back! Write to me!
The money I give back will be MORE than I ever received. You pay 50 I receive 33
If you change your mind I would rather do this without question than pay much much more by your going through Stripe to “complain”.
You would have the money THE SAME DAY.
Going through the complaints process takes ages.
NOTHING IS TO BE GAINED FOR ANYONE BY GOING DOWN THE COMPLAINT ROUTE.
You took out a subscription with an understood repeat date. If you changed your mind after that date, there should be no come back to me.
However I CHOOSE to pay you back anyway and lose money.
Stripe calls these repeat subscriptions that you signed up for FRAUDULENT if you challenge them! ??!?!
It costs me a fortune. I cannot afford to pay out money to help Mike. I’ve been homeless for 5 years. I’m struggling day by day to survive.
If your subscription repeats as signed up for - but you change your mind - please write to me
splish@me.com
I will pay you back even though it is more than I ever received.
Please! This is crippling me.
Warm regards
Tim
ps All those wishing to support Mike by supporting me, can take out a paid subscription to Mike or better, write to me. You could pay 40 instead of 50 for a year and I would get 40 rather than 33. I would take no repeat payments.
🙏
A few are starting to cancel their yearly paid subscriptions (nothing is ever behind a paywall) and pay me direct. Everyone wins. Less for you. More to me. NO repeats
To cancel a paid Substack subscription,
go to your Substack Settings, find the publication under Subscriptions, click its name, scroll to Account actions, and select the “To cancel your paid subscription, click here” link, then confirm by clicking Cancel Subscription to stop future payments, though access continues until your current billing period ends.
Step-by-step Cancellation
Log In: Visit substack.com and log into your account.
Go to Settings: Click your profile picture in the top-right corner and select “Settings”.
Find Subscriptions: Scroll down to the “Subscriptions” section.
Select Publication: Click on the specific paid publication you wish to cancel.
Initiate Cancellation: On the publication’s page, scroll to “Account actions” and click the link that says “To cancel your paid subscription, click here”.
Confirm: Follow the prompts, potentially skipping surveys or offers, and select “Cancel Subscription” to finalize.
Important Notes
Access Continues: You’ll keep paid access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for (e.g., month, year).
Downgrade: After cancellation, you’ll become a free subscriber to that publication.
Refunds: Refunds are generally rare, as money goes directly to the writer; you might need to contact the writer directly for a refund
🙏

You're another very good man, Tim. The people who read this content genre on Substack are not stupid, so if they act in this way it means they're irresponsible and selfish. Also, possibly, it's a deliberate counter offensive to cause you problems. Either way it's very wrong. Don't let them grind you down.
The same happened to me! I contacted the subscriber and she said she did NOT dispute it. I did a deep dive, and it was her bank that filed the dispute -- twice for the same subscription -- so I had to pay the dispute fees twice. I argued and argued with Stripe, but we're powerless.
Stripe's response was infuriating. They said that all the dispute fees go to the bank/credit card issuer (B***Sh**). And they said I should try to prevent disputes in the future by making sure my subscribers understand this is a recurring subscription. (?!)
